Note 3: In a letter to Harry Rasmussen, dated 15.12.84, Simon writes briefly about his time with "Fyrtøjet", but first he tells about his time at VEPRO, which as you know closed in September 1942:

 

     After it cracked, I made "The gallant hedgehog" for Ilka shaving cream. That was when you could call and ask if another minute could not be spent. And you had to do that well.

     And it turned into several commercials. I showed it all (out of competition) at the first Venice Biennale after the war.

     Then it must have been Fyrtøjet, and it was a nice time. But then I got the message that many of my friends had been shot and tortured by the Germans and begged me loose from the task. It was best to take a break. ”
